Plus: AI-Powered Business Advice & crib tech

In partnership with

Hot on the heels of OpenAI’s Tasks, another ChatGPT AI agent arrived this week. Deep Research is designed to tackle complex research by pulling from multiple sources in minutes.

It promises faster insights with minimal effort and is expected to boost productivity in fields like science, finance, engineering, and policy.

Impressive, but it still occasionally struggles to separate fact from fiction, so human fact-checking isn’t going anywhere just yet.

In this week’s edition, we’ve got radiology’s robo-review, AI expert business advice, smart sleep for babies, and finally, a look at how AI can bring historical figures to life.

Let’s get started!

AI in Healthcare

Can AI catch what radiologists miss? Diagnostic errors in radiology can lead to delayed treatment, poor outcomes, and skyrocketing healthcare costs. According to a study published in RadioGraphics, diagnostic error rates range from 3% to 5%, resulting in approximately 40 million diagnostic errors involving imaging annually worldwide.

Why is this happening? Radiologists are overwhelmed. A single day’s workload can require interpreting an image every three to four seconds, increasing the likelihood of mistakes. Other contributing factors include poor image quality, inconsistent report standardization, staff shortages, and transcription errors.

AI is increasingly seen as an ally rather than a replacement for human expertise in radiology. While proprietary AI models (think OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini) dominate headlines, open-source (i.e. free, public) AI—such as Meta’s Llama—offers a powerful alternative by allowing researchers and hospitals to customize tools for their specific needs.

Zauron Labs has leveraged Llama to develop Guardian Pro, a system that acts as a “spell checker” for radiologists. It double-checks imaging reports, flagging potential errors before they impact patient care. One goal is to collaborate with universities and build tools that enhance accuracy rather than replace human expertise.

Unlike proprietary AI models, open-source AI can be locally deployed, giving healthcare providers full control over patient data and reducing privacy concerns. Guardian Pro also allows developers to integrate multiple algorithms, broadening its ability to detect various medical conditions in a single scan review.

If open-source AI tools continue to gain traction, radiologists may soon have an extra set of eyes—one that doesn’t fatigue or overlook details under pressure. The real test will be whether hospitals and regulatory bodies embrace these innovations at scale.

AI Parenting

It’s been a minute since there was a baby in our household, but for those preparing for parenthood—or supporting new parents in your circle—smart baby monitors are now more than a luxury. They’ve become a must-have for peace of mind and better sleep (for everyone).

Gone are the days of basic audio or video feeds. Today’s smart monitors are packed with advanced sensors and AI, allowing parents to track breathing, heart rate, movement, and even oxygen levels—all in real-time. Some models even offer soothing features like lullabies and white noise to help fussy babies drift back to sleep.

UniWhale® bills itself as the world’s first AI-driven baby care system, combining wearable tech with advanced AI to deliver unparalleled insights and safety features. Here’s what it offers:

  • Discomfort alerts: Notifications for spit-up, choking, or general distress.

  • Vital tracking: Real-time monitoring of breathing, heartbeat, belly temperature, and sleep cycles.

  • Nasal health detection: Acoustic sensors to identify airway obstructions.

  • Personalized lullabies: AI-generated music for bedtime comfort.

UniWhale® brings a new level of assurance for parents, but it’s not the only contender in the smart baby monitor space.

The Philips Avent Premium Connected Baby Monitor also stands out, thanks to its SenseIQ technology. It tracks breathing and sleep patterns using advanced pixel evaluation—no wearables required. Cry-detection and translation features, powered by AI, help parents decode whether it’s hunger, discomfort, or something else causing the tears.

The system includes a parent unit, baby unit camera, and a companion mobile app, offering convenience and constant connectivity.

These AI-powered monitors deliver impressive capabilities, but innovation comes with a price tag: expect to spend at least $300 to get started. For parents, the real question is less about the tech and more about whether your baby will let you sleep long enough to enjoy it.

AI History

Calling all history lovers, we discovered this mesmerizing, must-watch video on YouTube this week -- featuring a compilation of historical figures brought to life with the magic of AI.

From Davinci to Charlemagne, Cleopatra to Confucius, and Napoleon to Magellan, the transformation from a drawing, sculpture, or painting is truly remarkable. In some instances, these famous figures are smiling and laughing – who knew King Henry the Eighth and a young King Tut were so charming? There’s even some bad dental work thrown in (Washington’s blackened wooden teeth make an appearance) that looks downright creepy.

There’s no telling where this creativity will take us, but we can imagine a radical and very engaging new way to learn history as AI tools make these videos easier and cheaper to produce. We can’t wait!
