Our team member Lori is finally finishing up a major remodel of her family’s new home, which included repainting the entire interior. Choosing just the right paint colors that blended well together with varying light was like trying to solve a Rubik's Cube blindfolded.

She and her husband were already sold on Sherwin Williams’ Agreeable Gray (SW 7029) for the walls but stuck on which white trim to pick from a sea of options. Forget scrolling the web, talking to friends, and taking multiple trips to the Sherwin-Williams store. ChatGPT came to the rescue!

Her first prompt: "What are the best Sherwin Williams paint colors in a white shade for trim if you use Agreeable Gray 7029 for the walls?"

ChatGPT offered six options with cool vs. warm tones, tints, and contrasts. Lori chose "Extra White (SW 7006)," described as "crisp, clean."

The next prompt: "What are some suggestions for the best shades of white for kitchen cabinets if we use Sherwin Williams Agreeable Gray 7029 on the walls and Extra White 7006 for trim?"

ChatGPT provided more white color options with a focus on enhancing kitchen aesthetics while maintaining a cohesive color scheme. Lori selected Aesthetic White (SW 7035), a "soft and versatile white with warm undertones."

The third prompt was for kitchen island color and took more consideration: "As a professional interior designer, what are your best suggestions for a kitchen island color if the walls are Agreeable Gray 7029, the trim is Extra White 7006, and the Kitchen cabinets are Aesthetic White 7035? We prefer to stay in the same neutral color scheme as gray and beige with a touch of yellow for warmth but higher contrast for a bolder look."

 GPT offered six impressive choices with detailed descriptions from Deep Charcoal Gray (Iron Ore SW 7069) to Mustard Yellow (Goldenrod SW 6677) and Warm Chocolate (Java SW 6090).

Hot tip: by asking GPT to act as a professional, you often get a better-informed answer.
