AI’s New Frontier
The AI chatbot race is entering a new era of innovation and utility. Google unveiled an impressive update to its search engine at its I/O conference this week, marking its most significant change in years. Instead of merely linking to other sites, Google will now leverage AI to provide comprehensive, multi-paragraph answers directly in search results. The “Search in the Gemini era” video is worth taking a look at here.
New Features:
AI Overview: Websites, videos, and social media posts will be distilled into detailed summaries, delivering all necessary information on any topic.
Enhanced Voice Assistant: The voice assistant can now answer questions with greater skill and depth, eliminating the need for further web browsing.
Gemini's Advanced Capabilities: Google's flagship AI model, Gemini, is now more conversational and can perform tasks with blazing speed. For example, it can build an entire vacation itinerary “in a matter of seconds,” catalogue books from a phone camera view, and summarize PDFs up to 1,500 pages long.
The upgraded Gemini model is now accessible to consumers via the advanced version of Google’s AI app. Want to learn more? Watch Google’s own 10-minute summary of the conference here, or for the truly committed, catch all the sessions and keynotes from the conference here.
OpenAI also launched ChatGPT-4o ("o" for "omni") on Monday, touted as smarter and more intuitive with an improved memory. It’s now better at understanding context and feels like you’re having a conversation with a well-informed friend who knows a little about everything. The best news -- it’s free for everyone.
Highlights:
Emotional Audio-Video Conversations: ChatGPT-4o responds with empathy or humor to make interactions more personal and human-like. Watch the demo here.
Multimodal Interactions: You can now interact using text and images. For example, upload a photo of your bedroom and ask for improvement suggestions, and it might recommend adding a colorful quilt, rearranging furniture, or choosing complementary artwork.
Customized Personality: You can modify the chatbot’s personality, tone, and style to suit your needs, whether for a professional assistant or a casual chat buddy.
Versatile Assistance: ChatGPT-4o is a valuable resource for small business owners drafting quick customer responses, students seeking help with complex homework, or anyone brainstorming new project ideas or looking for inspiration.
As these tech giants continue to innovate, one thing is clear: AI chatbots are about to revolutionize our digital interactions.

Your AI Life Story
What if you could turn your life's memories into a book without lifting a pen? Everyone has a story to tell but writing it all down is often the biggest obstacle. Now, there’s Otto, a new AI-powered biographer. Otto promises to streamline the whole process by recording your thoughts, no writing or notes needed.
Here’s how it works: After signing up, you simply talk to Otto like you would to a friend and share your memories out loud. You only need to commit to quick, 10-minute sessions each week. Otto adds new sessions that further flesh out the depths of your character and experiences. Before you know it, you’ve got a professional-grade biography boasting up to 7500 words for a reasonable price, currently $49.
Curious? We were too. So, we tried the 15-minute free trial where Otto peppered us with interview questions. Topics ranged from how we envision our legacy, to our ideal lazy Sunday, and that dream vacation spot we’d jet off to if given the chance.
When the recording session ended, it took less than a minute before our 500-word chapter appeared, titled Embracing Life: A Portrait of Compassion and Adventure.
To be honest, the writing was far too flowery and formal for our tastes. Here’s an example: In the vibrant tapestry of life, our subject stands as a beacon of hope and service, a spirited individual whose fearless pursuit of adventure is matched only by her profound dedication to helping others.
We think Otto has room for improvement. At a minimum, it should offer options for different writing styles, and letting you choose which questions to answer would add value. Still, it can provide raw material which you could edit yourself, and it’s a great example of how generative AI can help us shape our inner thoughts and share memories with the ones we love.

AI Designer Lingerie
Why settle for off-the-rack when you can design it yourself? Meet Adore Me, a groundbreaking service from Victoria's Secret online-only consumer brand that’s weaving technology with style to revolutionize how we think about lingerie.
Launched in 2012, Adore Me steps beyond standard offerings by providing “extended sizing across a wide range of styles and categories,” with a sharp focus on sustainability. Their latest innovation? A beta AI tool that lets you craft bespoke bralette and panty sets using generative AI to create designs that are imaginative and unique.
Here's the lowdown on how to channel your inner designer:
Vision Your Print: Start by drawing inspiration from anything that sparks your creativity. Describe your print in the prompt box, separating each word or phrase with a comma.
Choose Your Artistic Flair: Choose from watercolor, graphic, or abstract to transform your idea into a wearable art piece.
Final Touches: Dial up the personalization by adding custom text to the bands, making it uniquely yours.
Adore Me offers three options to choose from, but you can generate more if you’re not satisfied. We put the tool to the test with three prompts and added custom bands (see image above): neon orange/zebra print graphic, light pink daisies in watercolor, and abstract starry night with moonlight glow.
Starting at $54.95, each personalized set is produced on demand. This not only minimizes waste but also slashes water usage by 99% compared to traditional methods.
In the digital age, your lingerie drawer can be as personal and stylish as you dare. Why blend in when you can stand out?
